MYSTERY WITNESS UNVEILED:
Stephen Carlson reports that, as promised, Hershel Shanks has revealed the identity of the archaeologist who reportedly saw the "James Ossuary" in an antiquities dealer's shop in the mid-1990s, but with it lacking the phrase "brother of Jesus." It was Joe Zias. I haven't seen the article myself and there's nothing on the
Biblical Archaeology Review web page yet, but you can read about it in Carlson's post linked-to above. He also
summarizes David Noel Freedman's promised article on the "Jehoash Inscription."
