Advice on giving conference papers
THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE SOCIETY OF BIBLICAL LITERATURE starts this weekend in Atlanta. Convenienty, Inside Higher Ed has a piece on The Art of the Conference Paper (noted by James McGrath on FB). Looks useful, especially for those presenting a paper for the first time or (for conferences further in the future) hoping to get a first conference paper accepted. That also gives me an excuse to dust off my 2004 post on How to Read a Scholarly Paper, which some may find useful. It also links to a post by Mark Goodacre on the same subject, which links to lots of other related posts. Plus, my post includes a picture of Buffy.
