Why did ancient Jewish and Christian authors attribute books, both real and imagined, to Adam and Eve, their daughters, Seth, Enosh, Kainan, Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch, Lamech, Noah, and Shem?Prof. Lied also discusses the general subject of such books in an essay with Matthew P. Monger in MOTP2, pp. 635-49: "Old Testament Pseudepigrapha Known Only by Title." Sadly, she does not cite it here. 😢
