H-Judaic is greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Prof. Malachi Beit-Arié (1937-2023), Hebrew poet, pioneering scholar of Hebrew paleography and codicology [the study of codices], and former director of what is now known as the National Library of Israel (1979-1990). ...May his memory be for a blessing.
