The Department of Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenured position as an Associate Professor of Ancient Near East and Hebrew Bible. The position will focus on studies of the Hebrew Bible in its Ancient Near Eastern context and the successful candidate will have additional expertise in one or more of the following fields: Archaeology, Assyriology, Mesopotamian literature, Northwest Semitic literature, or another closely related field.
Duties include teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses and serving in the doctoral programs in Hebrew Bible/Ancient Near East (Department of Middle Eastern Studies) and Ancient Mediterranean Religions (Department of Religious Studies) directing graduate research. All faculty are also expected to maintain a strong record of research and publication and to engage in service to the Department, College, the University, and the profession. The Department places a high premium on collegiality and maintaining a diverse and hospitable working environment. Salary is dependent upon position and qualifications.
