To conclude, Ronald Hendel’s Genesis 1–11 in the Anchor Yale Bible commentary series was worth the wait. With over thirty years of research, his analysis deepened my understanding of Biblical Hebrew and offers fresh perspectives on much “established” scholarship. Ron Hendel and I overlapped as doctoral students in the Harvard NELC program in the 1980s. He was hard at work on the Book of Genesis even back then. It great to see this fruit of a career's worth of labor now published.
