I have been posting on the story of Lazarus and the Rich Man, as told in Luke’s chapter 16, and puzzling out its possible relationship to the miracle of Lazarus in the Gospel of John. Here, I will pursue that question by citing another curious source, namely the Epistle of James.Offhand I don't find the suggested connection between the parable of Lazarus and the Rich Man with the passage in James to be very convincing. Both passages may just be using stereotypical language about the rich and the poor. But a blog post is not the ideal place to present such arguments, and it is possible that I would find a more detailed presentation of the case more persuasive.
An earlier post by Professor Jenkins on the Lazarus traditions in the New Testament was noted here.
